Watch Repair in our Lewes Showroom
We have a fully-equipped Workshop on-site within our Lewes Showroom. This timepiece workshop is staffed by a British Horological Institute Accredited Watchmaker and caters for almost any watch repair, focusing on watches of a more contemporary nature including Rolex, Omega, Longines, Tissot, Breitling, Tudor and many more. We are proud to be an official TAG Heuer Authorised Workshop.
Our on-site workshop in Lewes is equipped with some of the latest watchmaking technology, including a Witschi timing machine, Elma Solvex cleaning machine and a Sigma pressure testing machine, capable of testing watches rated at up to 300m water resistant. We are proud to say that we are one of very few workshops that have these machines, allowing us to repair rare and badly damaged watches to the highest standard.
We are also outfitted with a full range of industry standard hand tools, modern and vintage glass presses, a Trinocular Zoom Stereo Microscope, Quartz watch diagnostic equipment as well as a range of Tag Heuer specific tooling, allowing us to identify problems, refurbish watches, and service timepieces seamlessly and efficiently.
Repairs catered for on-site in Lewes include:
• Servicing and repair of quartz (battery operated) watches.
• Servicing and repair of contemporary mechanical and automatic watches.
• Refinishing and restoration of watch cases and bracelets, including reapplying different brushed and polished finishes as appropriate.
• Replacement of watch glasses on most types of watch.
• Replacement of watch hands.
• Repairing and replacing screws, pins and rivets within watch bracelets.
• Battery replacement and pressure testing to guarantee water resistance where appropriate
• Button (crown) and stem replacement.
For the majority of these repairs we can offer a quick turnaround time. Usually, allowing for the sourcing of parts, the repair will be completed within 2 weeks. Jobs such as those listed above will need to be left with us – one of the major reasons is to allow us time for testing the watch after repair, ensuring your watch is performing seamlessly. For example, if we replace a glass we need to observe the watch to make sure the hands are moving freely over 24 hours.
Our on-site Watchmaker Dan Stent (photographed below) is accredited with the British Horological Institute (BHI), one of the leading education providers for the Horological industry. We support the BHI as Business Partners and back their mission to raise standards and train the next generation of horologists. He is also a Member of the British Watch & Clockmakers’ Guild.
Our in-house Master Watchmaker continues to take care of the vintage watches and pocket watch restoration work we receive. If a watch isn’t regularly serviced, especially with consistent use, they often have many faults and require decades of experience and expertise to restore, even the most timeworn watches can be expertly brought back to life.
If you’re experiencing any issues with your watch, our expert team at W.E. Clark Watch Repair is here to help. With decades of experience and a commitment to excellence, you can trust us to provide reliable advice and expert solutions.

How long will it take to repair my watch?
With our on-site workshop we can offer a quick turnaround on many minor repairs. Usually, allowing for the sourcing of parts, repairs will be completed within 2 weeks.
For more involved repairs including the full servicing of contemporary calibres, Generally these repairs are completed within 4-6 weeks.
For full servicing of vintage wrist and pocket watches, these need to be examined by our Master Watchmaker before we can provide a timescale.
Who will be looking after the repair of my watch?
Depending on the make, model and age of your watch, the repair will be conducted by our BHI Accredited Watchmaker on-site in Lewes, by Dan Stent. Antique timepieces will be repaired by our in-house Master Watchmaker.
Our entire team has many years of experience dealing with a vast spectrum of watches going through our workshop for repair.
How cost effective is repairing my watch?
If watch movements are not serviced in the correct manner, at the correct time intervals, then irreparable damage will be caused to the parts. If parts become damaged, this is when the cost for the repair can really escalate. Our on-site workshop has a state-of-the-art Sigma Pressure Testing Machine. We are proud to say that very few workshops have one of these machines. When, for example, replacing a battery on a watch that is classified as a 300-metre water resistant watch, it is essential if the watch is used to this degree to maintain this depth rating.
We can test watches to ensure that when the customer receives it back, they have the confidence, along with a printed certification that their watch has passed all the tests required should it be exposed to water. Water ingress, in many cases, is the worst-case scenario for watch repairs. If this can be prevented then, on most occasions, the cost of having to repair after such disaster can be avoided. Therefore, even the replacement of a battery should be taken seriously, not just opting for the place that does it for the least money – this could really cost you in the long run.
